Job Description

Waste Connections has an immediate opening for a Preventative Maintenance Diesel Mechanic to work at Alaska Waste in Anchorage, AK. This is a full-time position in which you will be working 4 10-hour shifts on weekdays; occasional weekend work may be required. The hours are 2:00PM – 12:30 AM. We offer a $700 per year tool reimbursement and $200 per year boot reimbursement. Additional bonuses are available for certifications and licenses.

The Mechanic is responsible for:

  • Performs repairs and assigned preventive maintenance services.

  • Utilizes vehicle computer electronics systems to interpret failure modes to initiate or assign repairs.

  • Conducts safety checks on vehicles and equipment.

  • Completes required paperwork utilizing fleet maintenance software program associated with repairing vehicles, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times.

  • Reviews, completes or assigns repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.

  • Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards.

Job Requirements:

  • 1+ years experience in heavy truck equipment maintenance and repair; or completion of accredited vocational technical school program.

  • Provide personal tools.

  • Class B commercial driver’s license preferred; ability to obtain one within the first 90 days required.

  • Must have own tools
