Tesoro Pipeline & Terminal Technician in Anchorage, Alaska

Summary

Responsible for the safe and efficient field maintenance of the Anchorage based Tesoro Alaska Pipeline (TAPL) assets. Perform field activities related to maintenance and operations of the Pipeline. Operate equipment for the movement of products through pipelines between storage tanks, truck loading rack, neighboring terminals and product receipt from barges, ships and pipelines. Assist Terminals with operations and maintenance duties.

Responsibilities

  • Starts pumps, observes pressure gauges, and opens valves for receipt and discharge of product at Terminals.

  • Performs required checks and preventative maintenance of valves, pumps, packings, and piping of terminal components and structures as required.

  • Makes proper notification of any emergencies or abnormal operating conditions related to Andeavor facilities.

  • Provide assistance to Andeavor Terminal personnel as requested.

  • Reviews emergency procedures and responds to pipeline emergencies accordingly as outlined in the Pipeline Operations Manual.

  • Obtains product samples and performs gravity conversions.

  • Performs pipeline facility inspections and complete identifying the Pipeline route, mainline valves, and rectifiers.

  • Responds to a One Call pipeline locate notice, performs pipeline locates and attend meetings with contractors and/or government agency personnel.

  • Recognizes coating failures and pipeline damage during pipeline excavations.

  • Assists in the review and writing of operating procedures.

  • Operates terminal equipment and truck loading rack within their design limitations.

  • Obtains inventory data by using proper gauging and recording procedures and computes information in proper forms.

Requirements

  • EDUCATION*

  • Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent required.

  • Associate Degree in Process Technology preferred.

  • Basic working knowledge of computer based programs, i.e. Word, Excel, etc.

  • Alaska Driver’s License and the ability to drive company-controlled vehicles required.

EXPERIENCE

  • Must have minimum 2 years’ experience in the oil and gas industry with experience in Terminal or Pipeline operations.
