Providence Health & Services Call Center Specialist in Anchorage, Alaska


Providence is calling a Call Center Specialist (Food and Nutrition, Variable, 1.0 FTE) to Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage, Alaska.

We are seeking a Call Center Specialist to direct patient interaction while assisting with meal selections, nutritional supplements and snacks over the phone and/or in person.

This position includes a variable schedule. Shifts can start as early as 5am to as late as 12pm.

In this position you will:

  • Provide high customer service while interacting with patients.

  • Monitor food handling according to HACCP guidelines ensuring food quality and safety is being met.

  • Follow proper procedures for sanitation, infection control and safety in accordance with municipal, state and federal regulations.

  • Collect patient selections for meal service primarily via telephone conversation; personally collects patient orders as needed.

  • In the absence of expeditor, completes foodservice procedures to include: checking trays for accuracy and quality, completes temperature logs, monitors timeliness of delivery, and completes all necessary documentation.

  • Act a New Admit Specialist (NAS) as scheduled to explain room service process and ordering to new patients, clinical staff and family members as needed.


Required qualifications for this position include:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Must possess a basic knowledge of therapeutic diets

  • Should be familiar with the fundamental operation of a hospital kitchen and be able to communicate effectively

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Associates degree in food service science and nutrition or related field

  • 1 year experience in a health care facility food service operation
